Collapse of UK emergency care system causes 2,000 deaths

Britain’s top accident and emergency doctor says about 4,000 patients a day are spending more than 12 hours in the emergency department because the care system has collapsed.

The British National Health Service (NHS) publishes monthly statistics on the number of accident and emergency (A&E) patients forced to wait more than 12 hours after doctors chose to admit them to hospital.
