North Korea criticizes the U.S.-South Korea summit agreement for heightening tension

As tensions in the region rose to the “brink of a nuclear war,” North Korea criticized a recent U.S.-South Korean agreement to support the deployment of American strategic assets in the area, according to state media KCNA on Monday.

In a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol last week, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden promised to give Seoul more information about its nuclear preparations in case of a conflict with North Korea. This comes as concern over Pyongyang’s weapons programs and the American nuclear umbrella has grown.
